Alice is an exclusive brand of cosmetic ink for facial tattooing. The name of the brand strongly influenced the path we took for its design. We wanted an interesting project where we could fuse the whimsical story of Alice in Wonderland, by the classic Victorian author Lewis Carroll, with the modern era. The challenge was to create graphics and patterns that look elaborate, but are also clean and simple. We altered the typography of the letters “L” and “I” so that they represent the transformations that Alice went through in the story. The icon was made by the blending of the suits in a deck of cards which are: diamonds, hearts, clubs, and spades.The pattern is inspired by the Cheshire cat’s trademark smile from Alice in Wonderland.
